Word to Markdown Converter for Structured Documents.

Upload a DOCX. This DOCX to Markdown and Word to MD workflow preserves useful headings, paragraphs, tables, and embedded images in one reviewable bundle.

Modern DOCX is supported. Legacy .doc files and exact page-layout reproduction are not available yet.

Signed-in Beta · Embedded images preserved

Choose one DOCX to get started.

Keep the content an AI or editor needs.

Headings, paragraphs, tables, and embedded images are normalized into portable Markdown. Headers, footers, charts, drawing objects, and complex layout can still need review.

01

Validate

Extension, MIME type, ZIP signature, size, and required DOCX entries are checked.

02

Extract

Local parsing reads document structure without sending the file to another conversion API.

03

Review

Download Markdown or the complete bundle with assets, metadata, source map, and quality report.

DOCX is live in Beta; legacy DOC remains planned.

Capability

docx-to-markdown

Browser, API, CLI, and MCP share one account, Credits ledger, and History.

Preserved

Core structure

Headings, paragraphs, tables, embedded raster images, footnotes, and endnotes.

Review

Complex objects

Charts, drawings, headers, floating objects, and precise page layout can still flatten and deserve review.

Output

One bundle

output.md, assets, metadata, maps, quality evidence, manifest, and ZIP.

Review output from the Word to Markdown Converter.

A DOCX stores semantic document structure and layout instructions together. The conversion focuses on content that remains useful outside Word, while the bundle keeps evidence for details that may need a source comparison.

TEXT

Headings, lists, and notes

Heading levels, paragraphs, ordered and unordered lists, hyperlinks, footnotes, and endnotes can become portable Markdown. Review custom styles that only look like headings, automatic numbering, and content positioned through text boxes.

TABLE

Tables and embedded media

Ordinary tables are represented as Markdown-safe structures, and supported embedded raster images are linked from the asset folder. Merged cells, drawings, SmartArt, charts, floating objects, and exact wrapping can lose visual meaning.

DOCX

Use the modern format

This route accepts modern .docx packages. It does not claim support for legacy .doc binaries or pixel-perfect page reproduction. Keep the source document when page breaks, headers, signatures, tracked changes, or layout are important.

Use DOCX Markdown with the source nearby.

Before publishing, compare document titles, heading depth, numbered procedures, table headers, footnotes, captions, and image placement with the Word file. For RAG, chunk along real headings only after removing repeated headers or template text. For documentation migrations, keep stable filenames and relative asset paths in version control. For legal, financial, scientific, or policy documents, verify every consequential number, name, date, reference, and qualification. The quality report identifies review signals, but it does not replace human approval or make visually complex Word content exact.

Keep the source document.

Preserve the DOCX as the final reference whenever page layout or revision history carries meaning.
