Files to words
Audio to Word Converter
Create an editable Word transcript from an audio recording. The Audio to Word Converter combines speech transcription with DOCX export, so colleagues can review, comment and revise the wording.
Free: 25 MB per file. Starter and Pro: 50 MB per file. Maximum 60 minutes per file under the currently active limits.
- Choose your source and export format.
- See the Credit estimate and processing progress.
- Read the result and download your file.
Your result is ready
A Word document you can edit
The output is .docx, the modern Word format, rather than the older binary .doc format. Spoken paragraphs and timestamps become editable content. If you add headings, lists or tables to a local Markdown document in Reader, the DOCX exporter preserves those supported structures as Word elements rather than a screenshot of the text.
Use it for review and handoff
An interview transcript can become an editing draft; a lecture transcript can become study notes. Start by checking proper nouns, figures and any unclear passages against the original audio. Automatic transcription does not certify quotations, produce legal transcripts or guarantee speaker labels. Word formatting helps collaboration, but it does not improve the accuracy of speech recognition.
One transcription, several useful files
Upload MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS or WMA and confirm the measured estimate. Choose Word before converting, or download DOCX later from Reader. The same result remains available as TXT and Markdown during its retention window. Repeated exports use the saved result and do not trigger a new transcription or a second Credit settlement.

This illustrative excerpt shows the readable export shape, not a speech-recognition accuracy benchmark. Your output follows your source.

Free: 25 MB per file. Starter and Pro: 50 MB per file. Maximum 60 minutes per file under the currently active limits. Sizes use binary units: 1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes. Sign in for the Free allowance; a guest preview is not the same as a Free account.
Free includes 25 Credits per month. Starter is $3.99 per month with 200 Credits, and Pro is $7.99 per month with 500 Credits. Paid plans do not remove file validation or the need for a sufficient balance. See pricing and Credits for the current catalog.
Estimate, processing and downloads
Media costs 0.5 Credit per measured minute, with a 0.3 Credit minimum. A 10-minute recording needs 5 Credits; 60 minutes needs 30 Credits. Free includes 25 monthly Credits, about 50 minutes before other use. A maximum-size allowance does not grant extra Credits.
Upload time depends on the connection and source size. Processing also depends on duration, page complexity and queue load; the estimate and task progress are indicative, not a fixed completion promise. Large uploads can resume missing parts. Failed processing releases reserved Credits; a successful task settles once.
Reader displays the same canonical result for TXT, Word and Markdown. Switching exports does not start another conversion. DOCX supports editable headings, lists, tables, links and supported result-owned images. TXT keeps readable text and table cells. The Word exporter accepts up to 1 MB of canonical Markdown, 2,000 content blocks, 512 table cells and 32 images, with 2 MB per image and 8 MB of image data; use the Markdown image bundle for larger documents.
Retention and review
Free results are retained for 1 hour, Starter for 7 days and Pro for 30 days after completion. The task shows the exact expiry. Download before it expires, or delete it early from History. Temporary sources are removed after processing or expiry; a guest-preview original can remain available until its preview session expires. Review uncertain words, table order and important figures before reuse. Read the privacy policy for processing details.
Audio to Word questions
Is the Word file a screenshot of the transcript?
No. DOCX contains editable text and supported document structure, so you can select words and revise paragraphs.
Does changing from TXT to Word transcribe the audio again?
No. Downloads use the same saved conversion. Exporting another format does not call the speech model again or charge Credits again.
Does downloading another format spend more Credits?
No. Markdown, Word and TXT downloads reuse the saved conversion, with one Credit settlement. A new source conversion is a separate job.
How long can I download the result?
Results are retained for 1 hour on Free, 7 days on Starter and 30 days on Pro. The job shows its exact expiry. You can delete stored files earlier from History.
What happens if conversion fails?
An unsuccessful conversion releases frozen Credits. If a release needs repair, the task shows its recovery state. Retrying a download does not create a second conversion.
