Files to words
Markdown to Word Converter
Turn a Markdown document into a Word file for editing and review. The Markdown to Word converter writes supported structure into DOCX rather than flattening the page into an image.
Free: 25 MB per file. Starter and Pro: 50 MB per file.
- Choose your source and export format.
- See the Credit estimate and processing progress.
- Read the result and download your file.
Your result is ready
Structure that Word understands
Markdown headings become Word heading styles. Ordered and unordered lists become editable lists, tables become Word tables, and ordinary web links remain clickable. Bold, italic and inline code retain useful emphasis. The result uses a readable document layout; it does not copy an arbitrary website theme or guarantee identical pagination across Word and Pages.
Images, code and advanced Markdown
Supported result-owned PNG, JPEG, GIF and BMP images can be embedded. A standalone .md upload does not include neighbouring local image files, and remote image URLs are not fetched by the server exporter. Missing images remain labelled references. Fenced code remains code text. Mermaid diagrams, custom HTML components and mathematical notation are not automatically rendered as editable Word diagrams or equations.
Use the same document in several editors
The output is the modern .docx format. Open the document in a compatible editor to revise it, add comments or apply your house styles. Exporting again from an already completed job does not reconvert the source. For a quick local Markdown document, Reader also supports opening and exporting a file directly in the browser.

Team FridayFile limits and account allowance
Free: 25 MB per file. Starter and Pro: 50 MB per file. Sizes use binary units: 1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes. Sign in for the Free allowance; a guest preview is not the same as a Free account.
Free includes 25 Credits per month. Starter is $3.99 per month with 200 Credits, and Pro is $7.99 per month with 500 Credits. Paid plans do not remove file validation or the need for a sufficient balance. See pricing and Credits for the current catalog.
Estimate, processing and downloads
The estimate follows extracted source units. Digital PDF pages cost 0.1 Credit each and OCR pages cost 0.5 Credit each. Text, HTML and EPUB use 0.05 Credit per 1,000 extracted words, with minimums of 0.11 Credit for text/HTML and 0.07 Credit for EPUB. Image OCR is billed per processed page. Your exact estimate appears before confirmation.
Upload time depends on the connection and source size. Processing also depends on duration, page complexity and queue load; the estimate and task progress are indicative, not a fixed completion promise. Large uploads can resume missing parts. Failed processing releases reserved Credits; a successful task settles once.
Reader displays the same canonical result for TXT, Word and Markdown. Switching exports does not start another conversion. DOCX supports editable headings, lists, tables, links and supported result-owned images. TXT keeps readable text and table cells. The Word exporter accepts up to 1 MB of canonical Markdown, 2,000 content blocks, 512 table cells and 32 images, with 2 MB per image and 8 MB of image data; use the Markdown image bundle for larger documents.
Retention and review
Free results are retained for 1 hour, Starter for 7 days and Pro for 30 days after completion. The task shows the exact expiry. Download before it expires, or delete it early from History. Temporary sources are removed after processing or expiry; a guest-preview original can remain available until its preview session expires. Review uncertain words, table order and important figures before reuse. Read the privacy policy for processing details.
Markdown to Word questions
Is the output DOC or DOCX?
Word export produces DOCX, the modern editable format. It does not produce legacy binary DOC files.
Will Mermaid or LaTeX turn into Word diagrams and equations?
No. Advanced diagram and equation syntax remains text unless the source already provides a supported image representation.
Does downloading another format spend more Credits?
No. Markdown, Word and TXT downloads reuse the saved conversion, with one Credit settlement. A new source conversion is a separate job.
How long can I download the result?
Results are retained for 1 hour on Free, 7 days on Starter and 30 days on Pro. The job shows its exact expiry. You can delete stored files earlier from History.
What happens if conversion fails?
An unsuccessful conversion releases frozen Credits. If a release needs repair, the task shows its recovery state. Retrying a download does not create a second conversion.
